Exciting Progress on Our Legacy Projects

red line

Thanks to your support, we’ve had a very busy and exciting summer with significant progress on our Legacy Projects. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to the campaign. To date, we’ve raised £127,000 of our £250,000 target. With these funds, we have made great strides on the Legacy Trail featuring the Guess How Much I Love You garden and our outdoor performance space, the 1774 Pavilion. These projects will enhance the wonderful grounds we enjoy and will help promote the physical and mental wellbeing of our pupils and the wider Friends’ community.

Our Journey So Far

The Legacy Trail
This 1500m trail around the perimeter of our 20-acre site offers opportunities for activities, relaxation, and moments of quiet reflection. Along the trail, information boards will delve into the school’s history, tell the story of some of our Old Scholars, and highlight areas of topographical and natural interest.

1774 Pavilion
The 1774 Pavilion, a striking architectural feature designed by the award-winning Studio Idir, founded by Old Scholar Aisling Rusk, is now taking shape among the trees at the front of the school. This unique space will function as an open-air venue for pupils to showcase their musical and creative talents. Beyond performances, it will serve as a versatile space for recreation and outdoor learning, enriching our community’s experiences.

Guess How Much I Love You Garden
Inspired by the beloved children’s book by the late Sam McBratney, an Old Scholar, the Guess How Much I Love You garden is set to be a magical space for our younger pupils. This garden will provide a haven for reading and enjoying the outdoors, capturing the imagination of our younger pupils and fostering a love for nature and literature.

Sustainable Signage
The grounds has recently been enhanced with new, environmentally-friendly signage designed by LE Graphics. Crafted from FSC-certified Irish Oak, the signage not only improves wayfinding but also complements the natural beauty of our grounds. The oak will naturally age to a silver-grey patina, seamlessly blending into the environment. The signage arms are made from Accoya, and the panels from Tricoya, both sustainable and FSC-certified materials, ensuring that our signage is as eco-friendly as it is aesthetically pleasing.

We Need Your Help to Finish the Journey
Although we’ve made great strides, our work is not yet complete. We still need to raise additional funds to reach our goal and bring our Legacy Projects to full fruition. Your continued support is crucial. Whether through a donation, spreading the word, or getting involved in other ways, every contribution helps us get closer to realizing the full vision of these transformative projects.
